hanging by a moment

Army boys can be called pigs because we play in the mud. although all the crawling makes us tired, at the end of the day it's fun. the part i hate most is cleaning up. it is more tiring than clearing the basic assault course.

The Army can be made into a reality show. all those makeover shows you see on tv are bullshit. you want a reality show, come to pulau tekong. it's where you see fat boys become slim and already fit boys become superhumans. in my case, my best every 2.4 timing was 11+ minutes back in tpjc. since then, my average has been 12+. after all the training in the army, i've just clocked 10.35min last thursday. that was probably one of my happiest moments so far in my five weeks of national service. right now i'm even more motivated to train harder and try to become superman.

The Army literally transforms boys to men especially in terms of mental strength. we all come from different backgrounds, forced (i can't find a better word) to come to pulau tekong and serve the nation. we leave behind our loved ones and lifestyle and have to learn to lead a new way of life. it's not easy but with the help of your new found friends in camp, it's possible. your buddies are the most important people during training. it's them who will push you and motivate you to endure and continue the training, not your commanders. it works for me because everytime i just feel like quitting, i look at my friends and tell myself "they feel the same way like i do but they're just doing it. so i might as well just fuck whatever i'm feeling and finish the shit." furthermore i've learnt not to view national service as a waste of time but rather a meaningful two years because if you think carefully, when else can you hold and sleep with a rifle, sleep in a trench, fire live rounds, throw a live grenade and walk 24km with a 10kg load like a mad man? might as well just give it my best shot.

see all of you in two weeks time. it's time to head to the jungle for field camp. i will survive. as of now i seriously have to become an officer if i want to buy the red g-shock mudman watch.

IPPT is a four-letter word

i spent half my first salary on my first bookout. so i guess what my physical training instructor told us was true - we'll spend alot with our first salary. i bought a dvd which costs me 60 dollars (the commitments documentary), a topman shirt going at half price at 40 bucks, a pair of black rip curl slippers for $20, nouvelle vage cd for mum and topman boxers for dad. all in all amounting to almost $200. i think i wanna be an officer so i can afford an armani exchange belt like one of the platoon commanders from my company. skali i become drebar or storemando. then i have no choice but to settle for hang ten or giordano.

one month has passed. two more weeks to field camp. 8 more weeks to pop.

endure

it was a well spent book-out. thanks for all the company everyone, be it hanging out in town or on msn. today's sunday so it means book-in day. will just spend some quality family time before going off.

that reminds me, gotta buy more sunblock and snacks to bring in to camp. sunblock really helps especially when temperatures can reach 35. actually cause i'm vain also.
