ever thought of what it would feel like if your ears and nose were cut off and have your eyes dug out with a knife? you are hung upside down and beaten with the handle of an axe till all your ribcages are broken. the cries of your son linger in the background while your husband relentlessly beats you like a man possessed by a devil. with all the energy that you can muster, you scream for help. in a few short moments your neighbours rush into your bedroom to find you unconscious and bloody.

this was what happened to a woman in pakistan. she was interviewed by national geographic channel and her story was documented. this is only one of the few hundred cases of domestic abuse that's going on in pakistan. she is lucky to have survived the unimaginable ordeal. the reason why these helpless women are beaten and quite a majority of them burnt to death, is because they were seen talking to another man. as such, it is presumed that that was an act of adultery. to protect his honour and pride, the husband commits these inhuman acts to justify for the wife's sins. sadly, although the government of pakistan condones these acts, nothing much is being done to stop and protect the women of the country.
