there is a light that never goes out

today i was deeply touched by one of my subordinates. he presented me with the Quran as a gift, after i told him last week that upon my mother's request i've begun to start reading the holy verses again.

somehow i choose to see this as a sign that not all is lost, and that there is still hope. this is perhaps the most meaningful gift i've ever received.
