what 2006 means to me
it's christmas day and it's less than a week before we say goodbye to 2006 and hello to the 7th year of the 21st century.
i will not write about how i lived through 2006 because i believe what's over should just be left that way but never forgotten because through these experiences, be it good or fucking bad, you grow up. you learn from the mistakes and do your best not to repeat them again. therefore i'd like to share with everyone the most valuable lesson i've learnt which is friendship. what i am going to say isn't all from my personal experience, but also from what i see is happening around me. you won't live long enough to make every mistake possible, so learn from others' mistakes too.
first and foremost, everything doesn't last, friendships included. from what i see, the most important word to ensure a lasting friendship isn't love, trust or anything of that sort. but it's the most difficult word to say; sorry. i believe that even without love or trust but with just a simple sorry, friendships can be saved. although your ego might get the better of you sometimes, you just need to lower yourself and be humble for once and just apologise. that's the reason why my secondary school buddies and i have been close to one another for so long, because we never think we're better than the other person and we admit our mistakes. be nice to people, your friends, and they will be nice to you in return. this world doesn't need love. all it needs is for everyone to start saying sorry.
till then, to all the christians, merry christmas.
